Election policy statement:
I want the parliament to deliver real change. It must reflect the priorities of the Scottish people. For this reason, my first priority as your MSP would be to represent the interests of the people here in Edinburgh Pentlands constituency in the parliament.

The Labour Government is already making a difference to people's lives. STEP by STEP things are happening across the country and here In Edinburgh Pentlands. A minimum of £2000 for every school to invest in books was granted by the budget. This will mean more books on the shelves of school libraries here in Pentlands.

A £300 million boost for Scotland's pensioners will mean that on average pensioner households will be £240 a year better off. This will make life a little easier for pensioners here in Edinburgh Pentlands constituency.

A new starting rate of 10p for income tax, and a 1p cut in the basic rate will benefit families all over Scotland. In particular, the starting rate will benefit those families on lower incomes here in Edinburgh Pentlands constituency.

The pensioner's winter allowance was increased from £20 to £100 which will greatly benefit all pensioners here in Edinburgh Pentlands constituency.

Also in the budget, there was the largest ever increase in child benefit. Investing £300 million in Scotland's children which will benefit children here in Edinburgh Pentlands constituency.

Iain Gray is 41, married with three daughters and lives in Currie. He is campaigns manager for Oxfam in Scotland, and has travelled widely In South East Asia and Latin America. A graduate of Edinburgh University, he has previously taught physics and mathematics in Edinburgh, Livingston and Mozambique. Iain is the Scottish Labour Party spokesperson on housing.
