Election policy statement:
When Labour came to power in 1997, one of the first acts of the new Government was to legislate to set up a Scottish Parliament. Scottish Labour was the only Party able to deliver the Parliament and now we are the only party pledged to make the Parliament work in the interests of the Scottish people.

In many of the vital areas of our lives the Parliament will have the power to make things better.

Members of the Scottish Parliament will have control over areas such as health, education and crime. It is important to elect Members of the Scottish Parliament who will use their energies to improve services - not on divorcing Scotland from the rest of Britain.

If elected, I will work to implement policies which will make a real difference. Scottish Labour will build on the £1.8 billion already pledged to the NHS and continue the task of bringing down waiting lists.

In education we will ensure that every child has the best start in life with a nursery place available to all three and four year olds.

Labour in government has made great advances and, in Scotland, we now have the opportunity to build on that sure foundation.

If elected, I will work tirelessly on your behalf. I will be fully committed to Maryhill, and will hold regular advice surgeries for constituents throughout the communities of Maryhill.

On May 6th the choice is clear - Vote for Scottish Labour.
