Election policy statement:
In a few days Scotland will elect its first ever democratic parliament. It is vital that this parliament works for Scotland, and that Maryhill's representative works hard for Glasgow and Maryhill. For too long Glasgow has suffered a succession of funding cuts in housing, health, and education. If Labour controls Glasgow council, the Scottish Parliament and Westminster, then the cuts will continue. Scotland / Glasgow need an independent voice. Only one party can be relied upon to fight Scotland's corner - The Scottish National Party.

Not even the Tory party dared end the basic principal of democratic access to education. Blair outdid even Thatcher by abolishing the student grant and imposing student fees. The SNP is committed to restoring democratic access to education. We will end student fees and introduce a grant for Scotland's 20,000 poorest students. With Independence the SNP will restore the grant for all students.

Labour spends LESS in Scotland now, than the Tories were spending under Forsyth. Yet the Labour party are continuing the Tory policy of trying to bribe the electorate, instead of maintaining proper levels of public expenditure.

How can taxes be cut when waiting queues for the NHS are still higher than they were under the Tories?
How can taxes be cut when Glasgow still has some of the worst housing in Europe?
How can taxes be cut when our school children lack school books?
The SNP will not impose tax cuts on Scotland when Health, Education and Housing are crying out for more support. Under Independence the SNP will end Labour/Tory taxation policy and introduce a progressive taxation system. With the SNP everybody earning less than £26,500 will pay less tax, everybody earning more will pay more.

Only the SNP can be trusted to fight for Social Justice.
Only the SNP can be trusted to fight for Scotland.
Vote Dr. Bill Wilson, SNP, May 6th.

Personal details used in election:
Dr. Bill Wilson is 35. Born in Glasgow, he was educated at Shawlands Academy and has degrees from Glasgow, Aberdeen and Queen's universities.

He is an environmental biologist, working at Glasgow University's Dept. of Research and Enterprise producing teaching material for new researchers.

Bill's first political activity was with old Labour in Oxford during the 1987 general election. But since then, faced with ever increasing evidence of Labour's betrayal of its principals and, with the importance of an Independent voice in Europe, Bill has come to realise that only independence can solve Scotland's problems.
