Election policy statement:
Rena Boyd says......
"I'm a parent and childminder, so I know just how important it is that every child gets the best possible start in life. Every 3 and 4 year old can now get a nursery place thanks to Labour in the Scottish Parliament. I'm pleased that Labour will improve school meals. Free fruit for Primary 1 and 2 pupils will encourage healthy eating."

Jim Hastie says......
"Free local bus travel makes a real difference for pensioners. Labour's free central heating scheme has helped a lot of older people to heat their homes properly. And knowing that free personal care is there when it's needed has taken away a lot of worries. There's no doubt that Labour has looked after senior citizens."

Gemma Leitch says......
"I've enjoyed my time at school and I'm going on to University. Labour's plan to give weekly payments to lower income families across Scotland to help pupils stay on at school is a great idea. More opportunities for training and apprenticeships will also help school leavers to get qualifications and jobs."

Gary Withers says......
"I'm pleased that Labour introduced tough new powers to seize the assets of drug dealers, hitting them where it hurts, in the pocket. It's good to know that there are more CCTV cameras in place, making the streets safer. Labour is on the right track in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour."

Labour working for you in Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley
Quality of life is important in every community. That's why Labour will act to improve your local environment, tackling graffiti, vandalism and anti-social behaviour. We will:
- Promote Community Warden schemes
- Continue the fight against drugs
- improve protection for victims and witnesses
- Extend Anti-Social Behaviour Orders
Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home, and be proud of the area they live in. Labour will encourage recycling to help protect our environment for future generations.

Building safer communities
Labour has delivered record police numbers and record crime clear up rates. Ayrshire will benefit from the first of the new fast-track hearings to tackle youth crime, and additional projects to keep young people out of trouble. Labour will also ensure that children at risk of abuse or neglect get the help and protection they need.

Excellence in education
Labour has reduced class sizes in the early years of primary school, and introduced classroom assistants. Action will be taken to reduce class sizes in English and Maths, in the first two years of secondary school. Labour will continue to invest in high quality school buildings, modern technology in the classroom and after school care.

Better roads and transport
Work has begun on improvements to the A76 and A77 to make travel quicker and safer. Local road safety schemes will ensure children have safer routes to school. Labour will extend the free bus travel scheme for pensioners Scotland wide. We will support rural transport and take more freight off the roads and on to rail.

Improving Scotland's health
Labour has recruited extra staff and modernised the way services are delivered to patients. But we want to do more. We will cut bureaucracy by abolishing NHS Hospital Trusts and invest in more nurses, doctors and health professionals. We will introduce a 48 hour guarantee for appointments at GP surgeries.

Labour's priorities are your priorities. Health, education, transport, jobs and tackling crime. A fairer society, attacking poverty and caring for our environment. We've made a good start in the first term of the Scottish Parliament, but there is much more to do. Community regeneration, supporting local business and jobs, investment in training and skills. Excellent public services, new partnerships with trade unions and the voluntary sector. We're on your side. With your help, we can build a better Scotland.

Dear Voter
It has been a privilege to serve as MSP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley.
I have taken up many issues raised by constituents at my regular surgeries and contact with local groups and community organisations.
Labour's priorities in the Scottish Parliament are those that matter most to local people. Improving health, education and transport, creating jobs and building safer communities.
We have achieved a lot in four years.
A free nursery place for 3 and 4 year olds. Free local bus travel for senior citizens. The Scottish Drugs Enforcement Agency. New hospitals. Health Centres and free personal care for the elderly. Modern Apprenticeships and support for local jobs and businesses.
But there is much more to do.
With your support on 1st May we can build more schools and increase the number of teachers and classroom assistants. We can improve roads and transport, put more police on the streets and more nurses in our hospitals. I will continue to work hard on your behalf to deliver a better quality of life for all.
Yours faithfully
Cathy Jamieson
