Election policy statement:
Working together
"Des McNulty has fought successfully to get public and private organisations to respond positively to the wishes and needs of local people. By working together in partnership, we have been able to do much more for our constituents in Clydebank and Milngavie."
Tony Worthington, local MP

A record of delivery
"Des McNulty has a strong record of working for local people. Des campaigned successfully for Clydebank's HCI hospital to be brought into the NHS. He wants all our children to have the best opportunities and to increase investment in our schools."
Jack McConnell, Scottish First Minister

Supporting local people
"Des McNulty is a committed supporter of the work of credit unions - and especially here in Dalmuir. We try to help the people the banks turn their backs on. It is not an easy task so we are grateful for all of the help Des is able to give."
Rose Dorman, Dalmuir Credit Union

Meeting pensioners' needs
"Des McNulty argued our case in the Scottish Parliament and the results show. It is truly wonderful that the Scottish Executive has given us free personal and nursing care, free off peak bus travel and free central heating for pensioners without it."
Rhona Pidgeon, Clydebank Elderly Forum

Labour working for you in Clydebank and Milngavie
I am proud to be the first ever representative of Clydebank and Milngavie in the Scottish Parliament. In four years the Labour led Scottish Executive has achieved:
- A free nursery place for all 3 and 4 year olds
- Free bus travel and personal care for the elderly
- New police powers to fight drug crime
- Bringing Clydebank's HCI hospital into the NHS
In this constituency, your choice at this election is between two futures: separation from the rest of the UK or working in partnership for better public services. My priorities are top quality schools, modern hospitals, a safer community and a prosperous economy.

Securing a safer community
Crime levels that were increasing before Labour came to power have been brought under control with more police and tough new powers.
Labour is delivering new drug courts, police powers to seize assets of drug dealers, more CCTV cameras and more police.

Better educational attainment
Labour boosted the standing of the teaching profession and has embarked on Scotland's largest ever programme of school building.
We kept our promise of a nursery place for every 3 and 4 year old child. Parents want the best opportunities for their children. Labour will make it happen.

Towards a healthier Scotland
Labour is investing more than £500 million upgrading Glasgow's crumbling hospitals which will dramatically improve the quality of patient care.
We are putting patients first, providing more doctors, more nurses and doing more operations than ever before.

Supporting older people
Labour has ensured all older people who require personal or nursing care will receive it for free. We have delivered free central heating for all pensioners without it.
Labour introduced free offpeak bus travel for pensioners within Strathclyde. In our next term, we will extend travel across Scotland.

Dear Voter
I am privileged to have served you as Clydebank and Milngavie's representative in the Scottish Parliament.
I work closely with my Labour colleague Tony Worthington MP, ensuring that your voice is heard at Westminster and in the Scottish Parliament. Together we successfully campaigned for the HCI hospital al Clydebank to be brought into the NHS where it will contribute to shorter waiting times for treatment.
In Clydebank, the regeneration of the Clyde waterfront has a huge potential to bring new jobs and new civic amenities as well as reconnecting the town with the river. I will continue fighting for additional resources to successfully rebuild Clydebank.
Since my appointment as Deputy Minister for Social Justice in 2002, I have seen at first-hand the difference made by Labour initiatives such as free off-peak bus travel for pensioners and free central heating for those who don't have it. I will keep working with local people and community organisations to get the best for Clydebank.
However, whilst we have achieved a lot, much remains to be done. With your support, Labour will be raising standards in our schools, looking after our older people, providing first class health services, ensuring job opportunities are available and cracking down on crime.
Yours faithfully
Des McNulty
Labour Candidate for Clydebank and Milngavie
