Brian Wilson MP says: Allan is an excellent colleague, who has represented this area with great diligence and personal commitment. Every community in the constituency can see the benefits of Allan's hard word and involvement in delivering projects. With your support, we will continue to work together constructively in the future.
Working for pensioners
Former MP David Lambie of Saltcoats says "Labour in Scotland's Parliament have delivered for Scotland's pensioners. Free personal care for the elderly, free off peak local bus travel and free central heating are all products of Labour. That's why I back Allan and Labour to deliver more benefits for Scotland's pensioners in a second term."
Working for jobs
Sir Alex Ferguson says "Unemployment in Scotland is now, thanks to Labour, at its lowest level for a generation. But we need to keep working to create new job opportunities. That's why I back Labour's promise to create another 10,000 apprenticeships and Allan's personal commitment to tackle youth unemployment in North Ayrshire".
Working for families
It's not only the fact that there are now nursery places for every 3 and 4 year old in Scotland, says working Dad, Peter Cutherbertson of Largs. Labour's school building programme and teacher recruitment plans mean that I can be assured that my kids are being educated in a modern, safe, properly staffed and equipped classroom.
Over the past four years it has been my privilege to represent my community in the Scottish Parliament. I am asking for your support so that Labour can deliver:
- Smaller class sizes in the key secondary years
- Free bus travel for pensioners throughout Scotland
- Tougher sentences for drug dealers
- An extra 10,000 modern apprenticeships
Only Scottish Labour will make more investment in our public services, our first priority for the next four years. For better schools, more nurses and more police, vote Scottish Labour on May 1st.
Investing in our future
Scottish Labour has already improved pay and conditions for all NHS staff and is driving up standards in our schools. A vote for Scottish Labour on May 1st is a vote for record investment in our public services. £2 billion more for the NHS in Scotland and £158 million more for education and for young people by 2006.
A fair deal for the elderly
Scottish Labour has given older people peace of mind and dignity by investing £250 million in free personal care, by introducing free bus travel and by setting up the free central heating and home insulation scheme. A vote for Scottish Labour on May 1st will see us building on these achievements in the next four years.
Cracking down on crime
Working with Westminster, Labour has already introduced new powers to strip drug dealers of their ill-gotten gains. Crime clear-up rates are at a post war high and police numbers are at record levels. A vote for Scottish Labour on May 1st will safeguard this progress and will see the police receive even more resources to fight serious crime.
Rebuilding local democracy
Since being elected I have worked to widen access to democracy. Whether through the Parliamentary Advice Centre in Hamilton Street, Saltcoats or one of my many surgeries, or my website. It's never been easier to contact your elected representative. A vote for Scottish Labour on May 1st will ensure this continues.
Allan Wilson your Labour candidate for Cunninghame North. As a local man your concerns are his concerns.
The Scottish Parliament might be the world's youngest, but this hasn't stopped it delivering on some of Scotland's longest standing issues.
Thanks to Labour, we now have free personal care, new laws on anti-social behaviour, free local bus travel for the elderly and disabled and nursery places for every 3 and 4 year old.
The job, or course, is by no means over and, with your support on May 1st, I will continue to work to bring more teachers, more nurses and more police into Cunninghame North.
Dear Voter
It has been my privilege to serve you as a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the past four years. At the forthcoming elections, I will be seeking your support on the basis of my record during that period. At all times, my highest priorities are to further the interests of the communities I represent and provide the best possible service to individual constituents. Many of the strategic objectives in which I have been involved are now being fulfilled. As a member of the Scottish Executive, I am proud of the reforms we have delivered - eg free personal care for the elderly, free bus and ferry travel for pensioners as well as guaranteeing a nursery place for every three and four year old.
The Scottish Executive works in partnership with the UK Government and it is due to the wider success of Labour's economic policies that spending available to the Executive has risen by 37.5% since devolution. That is extra money which we are spending on education, the NHS, fighting crime and delivering better transport and housing. Having spent my entire life in this constituency and raising my family in Kilbirnie, I have the same stake as everyone else in ensuring the best possible services, environment and career prospects within Cunninghame North. With your support, these are the objectives that I will continue to work towards - always in co-operation with others.
Yours faithfully
Allan Wilson
