SUSAN DEACON
YOUR LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR EDINBURGH EAST & MUSSELBURGH
SUSAN DEACON has represented Edinburgh East and Musselburgh in the Scottish Parliament since 1999. She served for more than two years as Scotland's Health Minister.
Susan says:
"It has been a great honour to represent the people of Edinburgh East & Musselburgh in the Scottish Parliament over the past four years. We have delivered more local police, extra investment in local schools and hospitals, nursery places for all three and four year olds, free personal care for the elderly and helped hundreds more local people into work. A lot has been done, but there is a lot more to do. With your support on 1st May, I will work to build on these achievements and to help build a better community and a better Scotland."

INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE
Labour has delivered a nursery place for all three and four year olds and is reducing class sizes. Many local schools are now being rebuilt or refurbished. Breakfast clubs, free fruit and toothbrushes and toothpaste for the under 5's are helping our children grow up stronger and healthier.
Better support for students is allowing more people to go to college and university.
IMPROVING THE NHS
Labour is investing an extra £3.2 billion in rebuilding our NHS and making it fit for the 21st Century.
There are now more nurses, doctors and other NHS staff - in jobs and in training.
Vital equipment is being replaced and new facilities built - including the new state-of-the-art Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
DELIVERING BETTER TRANSPORT
Labour has delivered free local off-peak bus travel for pensioners and will extend the scheme nationwide.
The new Edinburgh Crossrail service opened last year - including two new stations at Newcraighall and Brunstane.
Over the next few years this area will benefit from substantial new investment in public transport - including improved bus and road links to the new hospital.
BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES
Labour is working with local people to build better communities and to support families. More police and CCTV are helping make our streets safer. Support for community groups is increasing and new facilities are being developed.
