"Anytime I have to get help from Andy he has always been there for me. No matter how large or small the issue he has quickly got to work on my behalf. That is what I want from a local MSP. On May 1st Andy will be getting my vote."
Lesley
"As a parent with young kids Labour has delivered for my family and me. Nursery places for three and four year olds are a great idea and so are the smaller class sizes for the early years of primary. I think Labour deserves a second term and I'll be voting for Andy Kerr."
Stephen
"I'm pleased that Labour are tackling the crime and drugs problem. Labour's new Scottish Drugs Enforcement Agency is taking dealers off the streets and catching the 'Mr Bigs'. I welcome the powers to seize the fancy cars and big houses that they've got from selling misery to our young people."
Margaret
"I approached Andy on behalf of local residents about mobile phone masts. He got stuck into the issue and within months there was a full Parliamentary enquiry which led to the planning laws being tightened. A very good example of a local MSP working for the local community."
On May 1st you have a choice to make about the future. Despite world events we have low inflation, low interest rates and low unemployment. The choice is clear;
- Labour's stability or uncertainty with the SNP
- Labour's partnership or divorce with the SNP
- Labour's investment or cuts with the SNP
- Labour's experience or inexperience with the SNP
I hope that you will choose stability, partnership, investment, experience and Labour and allow me to continue to work for you and our community.
Tackling Crime
A vote for Scottish Labour will guarantee more resources for the police to fight serious crime. Locally recorded crime has reduced and more crimes are being solved, we have also introduced more CCTV systems. But there is still a lot to do. More action is needed against drug dealers and persistent young offenders.
Caring for our elderly
Scottish Labour has introduced free off peak bus travel for our 12,000 local elderly, provided free central heating and insulation and given greater dignity with the introduction of free personal and nursing care. Scottish Labour will extend free travel to the whole of Scotland and extend the heating scheme to help more pensioners.
Improving transport
Labour is delivering better local transport with the improvements at our train stations, the planned completion of the M74 and the building of the Glasgow Southern Orbital. Local road networks have been and will be improved as well a substantial programme to improve our roundabouts. More money is being spent on bus services locally.
Better education for all
Labour is spending record levels on our schools, attainment in reading, writing and mathematics in our primaries and secondaries is above the Scottish average. Local class sizes are below the average. This is in addition to nursery places for 3 and 4 year olds. Labour will reduce class sizes in the vital years of secondary school.

More teachers, more nurses, more police.

Labour has delivered a strong and stable economy with low interest rates, low inflation and low unemployment. Don't forget the boom and bust with the Tories or the risk to our economy by separation and divorce from the rest of the UK.
Dear Elector,
Four years ago I asked for your support to build a better, fairer and safer community. Four years later a lot has been done.
Labour has delivered free off peak bus travel, free central heating and free personal care for our 72,000 local pensioners, free nursery places for our 3 and 4 year olds and reduced class sizes for our 5, 6,and 7 year olds, record levels of policing, youth and drug courts and powers to seize the assets of drug dealers. More doctors and nurses and new hospitals like Hairmyres and Wishaw. Unemployment, interest rates and inflation are all at historic lows.
There is a lot more to do.
I want to work for better public services, a safer society and a prosperous economy.
Establishing the Scottish Parliament has not been without its challenges, but we have laid strong foundations for the future. I believe that only Scottish Labour can build on those foundations.
On May 1st I hope that you will support me again to be your Labour Member of the Scottish Parliament,
Yours,
Andy Kerr
- Personal details used in election:
- Andy Kerr your local Labour candidate and his family.
As someone born and brought up in East Kilbride. and now bringing up my own family locally I am very well aware of the concerns which face us all. Opportunities for our children, respect and care for our elderly, a health service to care for us all, the war against drugs, the fight for safer communities and first class public services. In the last four years I have listened and learned, I have fought hard for local people, I have tried my very best to assist those in need. I hope that you will take the time to vote, and vote for Scottish Labour.
