Election policy statement:
Dear Voter
Since May 1999 it has been my honour and privilege to serve us the first ever Member of the Scottish Parliament for Falkirk East, I never forget who put me there, and the duty that I have to you. Now I am asking you to re-elect me for another four years.
The Scottish people voted for a Scottish Parliament, and Labour delivered. Four short years later, while there is still much to do, we have achieved a great deal. In partnership with Westminster, we have delivered low interest rates, inflation and unemployment, and record investment in schools, hospitals and police. Meanwhile, our opponents offer only personality politics and a risky and expensive divorce from the UK.
I have campaigned over the past four years to protect local JOBS; for a HEALTH service that meets the needs of local people; for BETTER TRANSPORT, with free pensioners' off-peak travel across Scotland; for a CLEANER ENVIRONMENT; and for EDUCATION to meet the needs of all of our children.
I am committed to Falkirk East. I live here, work here, and shop here. I hold regular surgeries and make numerous home visits throughout the constituency. I want to build on our first four years - to continue to help to improve the quality of life of the people of Falkirk East and Scotland. That's why I am asking you to vote SCOTTISH LABOUR on Thursday 1st May.

Fighting for Public Transport
"I'm glad that the Labour manifesto has taken up Cathy's call for free off peak travel for pensioners and the disabled to be made Scotland-wide," says Norrie Gibson. "Scottish Labour is delivering, and that's why people like me will be voting for Cathy."

Supporting the Community
"Cathy always puts her constituency's interests at the top of her agenda," says Tom Wilson. "She has a background in the voluntary sector, and has consistently supported local community organisations and fought for their interests."

Supporting Local Campaigning
"Cathy has always been there to fight for our local community and support our environmental campaigns," says Maria Montinaro. "From planning matters to planting trees to campaigning for our health vices, she is always willing to spend time working with us."

Fighting for Working People
"Cathy is very active in the fight for jobs and the interests of working people and the local economy," says Stephen Deans. "Faced with job losses at BP, she was quick to seek action from the Scottish Executive and Scottish Enterprise, which led to the formulation of the Falkirk Action Plan."

Labour working for you in Falkirk East
"Labour created the Scottish Parliament. While I know that there is much more to do, I am proud of what we have done so far, including ...
- Seizing assets of drug dealers
- Free off peak travel for pensioners and disabled
- Free personal and nursing care for older people
- Improved student support
"I will work to ensure that all sections of the community have a voice in the Scottish Parliament. I will work to fight poverty, to create new jobs, to promote social and community inclusion, and to ensure better public transport."

Only Scottish Labour deliver...
More teachers, new schools, power to Head Teachers, rewards for the best teachers, and better discipline in the classroom. Smaller primary classes in early years and planned reductions at secondary key stages. The abolition of tuition fees and introduction of student bursaries has allowed more Scots than ever before to go to University.

Only Scottish Labour deliver...
Working with the police, drug dealers have been targeted, with new powers to seize assets; a Drug Enforcement Agency to take drugs off the streets; and new drug courts for quick and effective action. New powers have been introduced to deal with anti-social neighbours. Tougher sentences for drug dealers are planned.

Only Scottish Labour deliver...
Free personal and nursing care for all older people, wherever they are cared for. Labour is committed to a healthier Scotland, and led the campaign to have the new hospital built at Larbert. Cathy will push for this to be approved by the Scottish Executive, and for improved and modernised health centres providing treatment in the community.

Working together...
Labour has worked hard to build a strong and stable economy. Remember how bad things were under the Tories? Now we have low interest rates and inflation; child tax credit and working tax credit; a national minimum wage and the winter fuel allowance. Michael Connarty MP and Cathy have worked together to deliver for Falkirk East.

In the next four years we will ...
- extend free off peak bus travel for pensioners and the disabled to all journeys, Scotland wide;
- increase apprenticeships to 30,000;
- reduce key stage secondary class sizes.
- introduce tougher sentences for drug dealers;
- guarantee appointments with GP, nurse, or other local health team member within 48hrs.
