Election policy statement:
Dear Voter
I am delighted to have been re-selected as the Scottish Labour and Co-operative Party candidate for the Glasgow Anniesland constituency. Since being elected I have tried to be accessible to all of my constituents throughout Glasgow Anniesland. I believe that representing constituents' interests is central to the work of an MSP. If re-elected, I pledge to continue to work hard for all of the people of Anniesland.
I believe that Labour in the Scottish Parliament has made real progress in the areas which are important to the people of Scotland:-
- Free personal and nursing care for older people
- Increased investment in public services - an extra £4 billion to be spent on health, education, and more doctors, nurses and police
- Free off peak local bus travel for older people and the disabled
- Installing central heating for older people
- Nursery places for all 3 and 4 year olds
These achievements, in my view, are evidence of a good start, but there is no room for complacency; there is much more to do. I ask for your support to allow Scottish Labour to continue to build upon these strong foundations during the Scottish Parliament's second term.
Yours faithfully
Bill Butler

Improving Life For Pensioners
John & Lily Hind from Scotstounhill believe that Labour is on the right track. "Labour's Personal and nursing care, free off-peak local bus travel and free central heating has made a real difference to senior citizens in Glasgow Anniesland. We'll be using our votes to back Scottish Labour on May 1st."

A Stable Economy
Community activists Sandy Busby & Tam Munro, pictured outside the site of the new Yoker Community Campus are convinced: "Skills and training are the means to create job opportunities. Labour's got unemployment down, and promised to create 10,000 more apprenticeships for young people. We'll be voting Labour."

Investing In Our Future
Liz Atkinson from Knightswood, who works in Drumchapel knows that "Being the mother of a young family it's only Labour that I trust with our future. Labour is building a strong economy that will create long term prosperity for all. I'll only be voting for Scottish Labour and Bill Butler on May 1st."

Smaller Class Sizes
Alastair MacGregor. a father of three young children, lives in Kelvindale. "I know that Labour's done a lot to improve education. My children have benefited from Labour's policies of providing a nursery place for every 3 and 4 year old, and guaranteeing classes of 30 or less for all 5, 6 and 7 year olds. I'll be casting my vote for Labour on May 1st."

Labour working for you in Glasgow Anniesland
As someone who was brought up in Anniesland, was a councillor here & has represented the constituency for the last 2 years as its MSP, I believe that the priorities we share are:
- raising standards in our schools and creating jobs
- looking after our elderly
- providing first class health services
- cracking down on crime
As a nation we have a choice between two futures: divorce or working together for better public services. I want to work for better public services, a safer society and a prosperous economy, not file for divorce from the rest of the UK.

First class health care
To build on the work we have already done to improve Scotland's health services, if re-elected, Labour will guarantee that everyone will be able to get an appointment with the local G.P., nurse or member of the local team within 48 hours.

Working hard for you
Working with the communities of Anniesland to address the issues which matter to you has always been my first priority. I will continue to listen to the people of Anniesland and work on your behalf. As well as working with community groups, I hold I many local surgeries and I am available to constituents through my local office.

Cracking down on crime
Working with the police. Labour has already started to target drug dealers with new powers to seize criminal assets and new drug courts. If re-elected, we will introduce tougher sentences for those caught dealing drugs. We will also work with local councils to tackle the scourge of vandalism and graffiti.

A lot to lose
A vote for the Nationalists is a vote for constitutional wrangling and less investment in public services. Their first priority would not be to improve schools, invest in health or tackle crime. It would be to set up long and costly negotiations for divorce from the rest of the UK.

Bill Butler your Labour and Co-operative Party candidate for Glasgow Anniesland
Since the election of the Labour Government in 1997 unemployment in Scotland has fallen to its lowest level for 25 years. But there are still too many people in Anniesland who cannot find jobs. I want to work with your local MP and the local enterprise network to try to bring more jobs to Anniesland. If re-elected in May I will also work hard to address issues of importance across the constituency: better bus services, the provision of high quality leisure facilities and the continued improvement of the housing stock available to local people.
