Election policy statement:
Fighting for homes
Dick McGlave of Linthouse: " A year ago Gordon and our tenants group launched the petition against the waste unit. We never dreamt that 4,000 would sign up in support. Gordon did a good job. We won the fight. Now we're looking at new housing for Linthouse. I'll vote for him to make Govan a better place for all of us who live here."

Working in our communities
Frances Ferrie of Pollokshields: "I'm happy living here in the Southside. It's a good area, but there's always room for improvement. Gordon lives in this constituency and knows our concerns. He worked hard on local issues here as our Member of the Scottish Parliament. Labour and Gordon will get my vote on 1 May to carry on that work."

Making our streets safer
Eleanor Jones of Govan's Riverside: "My children and grandhildren live in Ibrox and across Govan. We're Labour through and through. They're the best party for us. Gordon's done a good job. He worked hard to get CCTV cameras in Ibrox, Cessnock and Kinning Park. I'll vote for him again to keep that work going across our area.

Supporting jobs and businesses
Kaleem Saeed of Shawlands: Inflation and interest rates are low with Labour and the economy is stable. The SNP would put all that at risk. Taxes and prices would go up to pay for a separate Scotland. That will threaten jobs and businesses. Independence isn't a risk worth taking. I'll be voting for Gordon and Labour on 1 May."

Labour working for you in Govan and the Southside
Gordon Jackson has been a strong local voice in our Scottish Parliament. He has worked hard with our MP and councillors and delivered on the issues that matter to you:
- Winning funds for CCTV cameras
- Stopping waste unit plans for Linthouse
- Raising concerns over Southside hospitals
- Securing Govan shipyard's future in the UK
"The SNP pick and choose the people they help and the issues they face. As your local Labour MSP. I represent everyone in our area. I live here and always put local needs t your corner and make your voice heard."

More nurses in our NHS
Having delivered an extra 1,400 doctors and nurses, we will recruit 1,500 more nurses and midwives and 600 doctors. Having cut waiting for diagnostic tests at the Southern General and waiting for heart disease and cancer treatment, we will reduce waiting for all treatments and guarantee an appointment at a GP surgery within 48 hours.

Fair deal for our pensioners
Free care for the elderly is one of the Scottish Parliament's greatest early achievements. Every senior citizen is also entitled to free central heating. Our senior citizens deserve a fair deal. Having delivered free off-peak bus travel for older people and the disabled on local Strathclyde routes, we will extend it to all journeys across Scotland.

More police on our streets
Having delivered record police numbers and CCTV cameras to cut crime, we will target violent crime, youth disorder and graffiti. Working with police and local residents, we have targeted drug dealers in all our communities and seized their profits. Now we will ensure that dealers get the tougher sentences they deserve.

Better classes for our children
Having delivered smaller classes for the first three primary years, we will cut class sizes for Maths and English in the early years at secondary. Having refurbished Govan High, Bellahouston Academy, Shawlands Academy, Holyrood and Lourdes, we will rebuild or refurbish 200 more Scottish schools to give our children modern facilities for learning.

You have two choices on 1 May. Labour will build on the progress made in our young Parliament. The SNP will break up Britain.
The choice is clear. Vote Labour to keep a strong local MSP who lives here, is active in all our communities and fights our corner in the Parliament. Or vote SNP for a Nationalist who doesn't live here, misses local meetings and spends more time fighting other SNP members than on any real work in our area.
The choice is yours. Better public services, more nurses and more police with Labour. Or tax rises and public service cuts to pay for an expensive divorce with the SNP. Build a better future for Scotland. Don't break up Britain.

Making our streets safer
John Kelly of Pollokshaws: We need to make our area a safer place to live. I want to see more police on the beat. I'll be voting for Labour on 1 May.

Listening to you
Southside resident Frances Ferrie: "I'll vote for Gordon and Labour on 1 May. He lives here and listens to people in all our communities."

Working for you
Simon Johnson of Shawlands: "Labour is committed to improving the quality of life for all. I'll be voting for Gordon and Labour on 1 May."

Improving our schools

Working for you
Hafeez Rizwan of Bavajee Newsagent in Victoria Road: "I've supported Labour for over twenty years. I'll be voting for Labour and Gordon on 1 May."

Dear Voter
Since being elected your MSP in 1999, I have always put local needs first. I live here and know that you wanted a strong local voice in the Scottish Parliament. I helped thousands of people through weekly surgeries across the Southside and met groups in all our communities. List MSPs from other parties pick and choose the people they help and the issues they face. As your local MSP, I represent everyone who lives in our area. Working with people across the Southside, I have delivered on the issues that matter to you: raising concerns over hospital changes, improving our police presence, winning funds for CCTV cameras and taking action for safer roads, but there is much more to do. We all want to make our area a better place to live. I want to continue that work as your MSP.
Labour is building a better future for Scotland, making real changes to deliver better public services. Every senior citizen is entitled to free care. There are nursery places for all three and four year olds. Bellahouston, Shawlands and Holyrood schools have seen major improvements. More police are on the beat and more nurses are working in the NHS. We need to build on those achievements. I am asking for your support to continue working as your Labour MSP. I will always fight your corner and make your voice heard.
Yours faithfully
Gordon Jackson
