- Dear Voter
I have been privileged to serve as your Member of the Scottish Parliament for the last four years - four years in which Pollok constituency has seen many changes.
We have seen a massive drop in unemployment; huge investment in our health services, childcare, nurseries and education; the needs of our senior citizens being recognised with the provision of free bus travel, free central heating and free personal and nursing care; and real investment in our communities, creating a better environment in which to bring up our children
Four years ago, I promised to be hardworking, accountable and accessible to you. I have been a strong voice for Pollok constituency, both providing help to individuals and fighting on the issues that you have told me matter to you - crime, health and education.
Across Pollok, people work hard to support their families and to keep their neighbourhoods safe. I have fought to ensure that your concerns are understood by those making the decisions that affect your everyday lives.
I now seek your vote again so that together, we can work to build a stronger, healthier and safer Pollok.
Thank you for your support.
Yours faithfully
Johann Lamont
Working for families
The Webb family from Crookston welcome Labour's commitment to childcare, education and to a stable economy. "Johann is committed to fighting for the things we need to help our family. As a mother of two young children herself, Johann understands why childcare, education and the NHS are so important."
Working for communities
Gordon Millar from Parkhouse says, "Johann always listens carefully to what local communities are saying; she has fought for investment locally and for a real priority to be given to proper policing and safe and peaceful communities. She has fought to involve local people in the decisions that affect their lives.
Working for pensioners
Margaret Anderson from North Cardonald says, "Johann has been a real support for our area and to all pensioners. She has always been willing to take up issues that matter to us. Labour has secured real benefits for us - and we are all enjoying the difference made by free bus travel!"
Working for our future
Judith Murray, a pupil at Ross Hall Academy says, "Labour has invested In our schools, our teachers and support staff. I am delighted with our new school, where finally have facilities and equipment that match our talents. I value my education and Johann has played her part in ensuring school students can reach their real potential."
Labour working for you in Glasgow Pollok
For the past four years it has been a great privilege for me to be your representative in the Scottish Parliament. I have been a strong voice for your priorities and concerns:
- Safe and secure communites
- A well funded and efficient NHS
- Real opportunities for our young people
- Dignity in retirement for our pensioners
Only Scottish Labour will make more investment in our public services and secure and thriving communities the key priorities in the next four years. Vote Scottish Labour on May 1st.
Investing in our future
Labour has invested record sums in our young people: in childcare, in free fruit, breakfasts and swimming lessons and in our teachers. We shall continue our school building programme because our children deserve the best possible learning environment. Our children are our future - and Labour will always put them first.
Making our communities safe
Labour understands that people should feel safe in their own homes and communities. We have invested record sums in our police forces, we will take tough action against those who bully and harrass their neighbours and we will work to ensure that those who vandalise their local communities will repair that damage.
A fair deal for the elderly
Labour is committed to rewarding a lifetime of work. Having done their bit in their working lives, elderly people deserve to be free from anxiety about their care and to have the freedom to make the most of their retirement. That is why Labour has invested in free personal care, free bus travel and free central heating for the elderly.
Serving your needs
Labour will always put your needs first. Johann has fought for constituents locally and in Parliament and has campaigned on the issues that matter: a fair deal for Glasgow, tackling anti-social behaviour and having high quality public services. As a Labour MSP, Johann will always put her constituents first.
Johann Lamont, your Labour and Cooperative candidate for Glasgow Pollok
The Scottish Parliament might be the world's youngest, but we have delivered on some of the most important issues to us, our families and communities.
Thanks to Labour we now have new laws on anti-social behaviour, free bus travel for the elderly and disabled, nursery places for every three and four year old and record levels of investment in the NHS and education.
There is still more to do. I seek your vote with my pledge to be a strong voice for Pollok.
