Investing In Public Services
Frank says: 'A vote for Labour will mean a vote for more teachers, more nurses and more police. We will spend £2bn more on the NHS and £158m more on education and young people by 2006. We also guarantee £1.2bn investment in Glasgow's housing and £700m to upgrade Glasgow's hospitals.'
Tackling Crime/More Police
Frank says: "Too many of our residents are affected by crime and Labour will guarantee more resources for the police to crack down on street crime and deal with persistent young offenders. We will seize the assets of drug dealers and I will continue to work alongside the community to make it safer for all of us."
More Jobs For Local People
Frank says: "Labour will deliver 30,000 Modern Apprenticeships and our commitment to investment in housing will provide real job opportunities. I have been working to deliver extra jobs with the East End Partnership and Gorbals Initiative to make sure we never return to the Tory unemployment years."
Fairer Deal for the Elderly
Frank says: "Labour delivered on our promises of free local bus travel, free central heating, free personal and nursing care and I pledge to deliver our commitment to have free bus travel across Scotland. A vote for Scottish Labour will be a vote to help Scotland's older people."
Delivering for Pensioners
Gorbals pensioner Betty Sharkey says: 'Thanks to Labour pensioners now have the Winter Fuel Allowance, free nursing and personal care, free central heating and free local bus travel. I know that Frank will deliver on Labour's next pledge to provide free bus travel across Scotland. He'll get my vote.'
Delivering on Health
Jim Doherty of Gallowgate Family Support Group says: "Labour believe in the NHS and are investing in health with improvements in Health Centres like Bridgeton and Govanhill. They will invest £700m in Glasgow's hospitals and you can trust Frank to help a Health Service we all need and deserve."
Delivering on Education
East End resident Maureen Morrison says: 'Our secondary schools have had massive investment and Labours's commitment on free nursery places has been great and increasing the number of apprenticeships to 30,000 will give our young people hope. Frank's been a teacher and I know he will continue to make education a top priority.'
Delivering on the Economy
East End mum, Bridget Carson says: "Labour is making a real difference with unemployment and inflation at their lowest for thirty years. I know many people who benefit from the Minimum wage and Frank has been working hard to bring real opportunities to our young people. You can trust him to deliver."
