Election policy statement:
Dear Voter
My message is simple, please help Labour continue to deliver: more teachers in Renfrewshire schools; more doctors in our local hospitals and more police on our streets. We have achieved much in the first four years, but we can do so much more with your support.
Today in Renfrewshire a grandparent using a free bus-pass can pick up their grandchild from a free nursery place - 18 new nurseries locally. That same grandparent knows that in later years, their personal care will be free. Parents know their children are now taught in smaller classes, by teachers who are properly paid. Local children can now aspire to go to university without the worry of tuition fees, or get a Modern Apprenticeship as the route to a real trade. Police numbers are at record levels, crime clear-up rates at an all-time high, and courts can now seize drug dealers' ill-gotten gains. The local health service now has 200 more doctors and nurses.
In the next four years I will work for more doctors in the RAH, a new health centre in Renfrew, more police on the beat in Linwood and Paisley and all our local schools refurbished.
So please help us finish what we have started. Don't risk losing it all. Other parties oppose Labour's plans to build six new Renfrewshire schools and refurbish the rest. So the real choice locally is between New Schools with Labour or No new schools with other parties. Remember Renfrewshire's children on May 1st.
Yours faithfully
Wendy Alexander

"Wendy learned from Linwood...
she saw the effect a few bad apples can have on a community and the way it could affect the quality of life for everyone ... as Communities Minister, she brought in tougher measures to tackle anti-social neighbours". Ian Wilson, Linwood Community Council

"Wendy listened to Renfrew...
she campaigned hard to secure a new health centre at the heart of the town. I know she is determined that "old" Renfrew benefits from the growth in "new" Renfrew - so everyone wins.
Helen Grady Renfrew Community Council

"Wendy fought hard for...
people like me, to have central heating fitted free into my house: my home is now warm and my heating bills have fallen. All over Scotland pensioners like me no longer have to choose between eating and heating because of the scheme Wendy designed."
Mrs Lavery, local constituent

"Wendy works with us...
to ensure Scottish companies get a fair deal. As Enterprise Minister she made sure companies like Rolls Royce could stay in Renfrewshire - and that they got as much help as foreign companies.
Kenny Jordan Union Convenor at Rolls Royce, Hillington

Wendy for Older People...
"I am proud we have already delivered 5000 warmer, more energy-efficient homes for older people living in out community. Later in life we shouldn't have to worry about being able to afford something as fundamental as being warm".

Labour working for you in Paisley North
The real choice for you on May 1st is whether we build for our children's future or not, a vote for any party other than Labour puts at risk...
- 4 New Primary Schools in Renfrewshire
- 2 New Secondary Schools in Renfrewshire
- Smaller class sizes in Renfrewshire
- More Teachers in Renfrewshire

Wendy for Against drugs...
"Illegal drugs can have a devastating effect lives of people touched by them, the families of people using them, the users or the victims of crime carried out to buy them. New drugs courts and tough new laws give us the power to seize dealers ill-gotten gains - a vital step forward in the battle to end this scourge.

Wendy for Children...
"Every child should get the best possible start in life. Already every 3 & 4 year old in Renfrewshire has the right to a free part time nursery place. Already infant classes are smaller and teachers are now being properly rewarded. But we want to do more: every local school will be refurbished, but only if Labour is re-elected in Renfrewshire.

Wendy for Jobs...
"With Labour, unemployment in Paisley North is down 40%. More are in work and mortgage rates are low. We are building our future: 2000 Renfrewshire young people are now undertaking Modern Apprenticeships. Rolls Royce is building a new local factory, and our shipyards have full order books - we can't risk losing all this".

My commitment is to hard working local families. We have delivered free personal care and free local bus travel for pensioners, free nursery places for 3 & 4 year olds, scrapped tuition fees, put record numbers of police on the beat and appointed 200 more doctors and nurses locally. But we still need more: more teachers; more nurses; more police - and even tougher sentences for drug dealers. I believe these are the issues for local families not the same old 'independence' arguments. Help me to keep working for you by voting Labour on May 1st.
