Election policy statement:
Wilma Edwards
"Labour has been great for pensioners. In just 4 years we have free personal care, free buses and central heating. Maureen tells me we're getting free buses throughout Scotland next. I feel 4 years younger, not older."
Wilma, now in her 70's, has recently retired.

Dell McClurg
"Maureen is interested in the welfare of children and their mothers too. She keeps me informed about what the Executive is doing for young children. Maureen is approachable and accessible. I feel Edinburgh is closer now.
Dell works at the family project, Merkinch

Marilyn Ross, MBE
"I have known Maureen for over 20 years - since we first set up the refuge in Dingwall. Her commitment to tackling domestic abuse has never faltered. I cannot think of anyone better to represent the women of the Highlands."

Donnie Munro
"Maureen Macmillan is an able and proven parliamentarian. She has campaigned successfully in Parliament on many issues and through chairing the Cross Party group on Gaelic has promoted the development of the Gaelic Language and Culture."
Dr Donnie Munro is Director of Development, Sabhal Mor Ostaig

Labour working for you in ROSS SKYE & INVERNESS WEST
Although we live in a huge and diverse constituency, we all have the same aspirations. They are Labour's aspirations too. I will continue to work hard to achieve them.
- Excellent education in fit for purpose schools
- Best possible healthcare, from city to township
- Neighbourhoods free from crime and disorder
- Upgrading of skills for better job opportunities

Oil and Renewables
As vice-chair of the Parliament's Cross Party Oil and Gas Group, I meet the Oil Companies regularly and press the merits of the Moray Firth as a base for construction and engineering, especially now that these companies are considering building offshore wind farms. Renewable Energy will bring increased prosperity to the Highlands.

Education
Highland Council is receiving record funding for building and refurbishing schools. Over £100 million in the next two years. There is free nursery education for 3 and 4 year olds. New Community Schools have been a success and more will be established. Gaelic medium education continues to expand with more teachers being trained.

Tourism
Tourism plays a major part in the Highland economy. Its importance will grow. I set up and chair the Parliament's Cross Party Group on Tourism which meets regularly with VisitScotland and representitives of the tourist industry. It provided a good point of contact between businesses and MSPs during the Foot and Mouth outbreak.

Transport
The Highland economy depends on reliable, integrated transport links which Labour is determined to see developed. A quarter of our households rely totally on public transport. Labour has delivered better bus services and funded numerous community transport schemes. I have pressed for improvement to rail services, for more rural bus stops and commuter cycle routes
