With the enlistement of so many Springburn men in the war, the 'Mons' factory was worked from the start by local women, doing the kind of skilled industrial work denied to women before the war. The work was far from glamorous, the hours were long, and the demand for munitions supplies for 'The Front' seemingly endless.
